This was the only thing that worked. I have had to turn off at the power button and switch on again to resolve this. I was extremely skeptical since the name "sflfjkdsfoj" looks suspicious. it might be a while if i am going to purchase an adapter for the HDD. crunching obnoxious sound coming from inside the laptop. Vista Stuck On Welcome Screen
I know turning off at the power button can damage the hard drive over time, so I DO want to try to get this resolved once and for all. My laptop is hp 6735s 350GB, 3GB RAM. I would suggest that you unload all peripherals and let Vista find them again - but, one at a time while you keep them unplugged.

I have tried, safe mode, F12, F8 restore back to trusted point (or similar cannot remember) Nothing seems to be working, not sure what to do next should I take it XD Thank you Dakiddddd! Feelgood Jul 1, 2010 at 12:38 AM does your laptop han an antivirus system on it? You have windows aero mode that could be bringing your system down if there isnt enough memory. After the completion step, it turned all black. I spent 3 hours with Microsoft and nothing was found wrong.
