- Try to determine which manufacturer made the drive (or drives if you have more than one) in your system and check their website for any diagnostic tools that you can download

I have rebooted six times, all it does is show the Windows icon, play the Windows chime, then go to a grey screen and sit there.
One problem was found and fixed (bad clusters in BOOTSTAT.DAT). It downloaded Win 10 in the background and asked to install, I said yes. upgrade worked. I was beginning to think that my dual boot configuration was causing problems (Ubuntu 14.04 using EasyBCD 2.2).
Did all the same as you did but only ‘HP' insignia comes up. Nor did opening the command prompt as admin and forcing the update. Even I was able to do it but maybe I got lucky! I tried three times and each time I got to the stage when it told me my files are locked and would I try to unlock them and try again.
I performed the upgrade from a DVD that i created with the Media Creation Tool. I forced a download of the MediaCreationToolx64 but it would fail with the "Something Happened" error over and over. Anyway, I fixed it by rebuilding my BCD - boot configuration data. Created by Anand Khanse.
