I've never one a clean boot before and I'm not really sure what I'm doing. No Internet connection is a major problem in fixing the darn thing. Service Pack one is way faster, and that is what matters to me. I'm still wondering if there is a need to install this service pack and what the fix is for the sound issue if I do. news

says something about services not able to update and error code 80041315. 5 failed tries. I guess I am done ranting now. It is taking forever, I'm glad I'm doing this in the middle of the night, I installed it at 12:35am. All I can say is good luck. Then on the next kb, same stuck problem again, full shutdown and cold restart worked again. I have laboriously tried page after page of suggestions for literally weeks. How do I know I won't?

SAME as it their fault when networking locally doesn't work. Alternatively, it may be worth considering updating to Windows 10. Windows 7 Updates HP users are complaining about HP quality. If any one of these individual updates fail, the entire install of SP1 will fail too.

This time the 101 updates before the service pack update didn't install and corrupted. It screwed up everything and there is no restore point beyond Service Pack 2 on it. The combination of the the two updates recommended here, and the "Windows Update Diagnostic" finally allowed me to run the normal automatic Windows Update.
