Switch to AHCI mode? I followed the Lenovo procedure exactly with a floppy and allowing XP to load the AHCI driver during installation of XP. I'm surprised about Toshiba acting like this as they've been honest so far as is Lenovo. X6x Tablet ThinkPad X2/X3/X4x Series incl.

Unfortunately once you have installed the operating system, you may not switch modes from SATA IDE Compatibility Mode to AHCI or vice versa without reinstalling the operating system. In order to use Windows with the AHCI features enabled, you will need to specify an AHCI driver for your stoage drives to be recoginised as an usable root hard drive. solved i have hp elitebook and it has AHCI , IDE , and RAID SATA modes. ALPM is a technique where the SATA AHCI controller puts the SATA link to the disk into a very low power mode when there's no IO for awhile.
