I used Nero to burn, on the slowest speed setting. I purchased a WD PATA drive and all that was required was formatting. This makes the data contained on it inaccessible. thank u so much!

I run the fix here because my computer (XP) still did not recognize the drive and now I can play my drive but not burn anything. I have since reinstalled Windows XP (was having a whole host of problems) and the missing External Drive problem persists.

If you're formatting a drive that has data on it, double-check that it's the correct drive by looking at the drive letter and then checking in File Explorer or Windows Explorer So how to get the drivers out of this file? But suprisingly after removal and re-insertion of just that drive it does not get the free drive letter, XP persists with the previously allocated letter so it remians lost for ever!

You know they loaded the pavillion 9905 with a secret partition so it will recover it self. Even went into safe mode and no dice. I went to "Device Manager" and uninstalled the drive (from Disk drives) and the USB Mass Storage Device (from Universal Serial Bus controllers) then restarted my computer. Its better to incorporate the HD SATA drivers to the XP Installation CD. You will have to check with the computer manufacturer to determine if there is a newer BIOS version available. This didn't work for me, but I found another possible solution. Tried the fix here and some of the suggestions to no avail. I went to work plugged it in my work computer and just couldn't figure out what the world happened to my pictures. The lower/upper filters deletion did didley squat and the fixit tool diagnoses my DVD drive as not detected.
